Zombie Poem

I watched It lurching up the grounds,
and It wore my brother's skin.
Its jawbone flapped like a curtain
in the harsh October wind.
Its rags were soiled and bloody,
and Its right leg dragged behind.
Its arms stretched out before It
as It trudged the slow incline.
Its eyes were dead, its cheeks sunk in,
Its teeth had rotted loose.
It appeared my brother's flesh
had been wearing down from use.
I watched It lurch up to the house,
and It wore my brother's skin.
The gun was loaded at my side --
I didn't think it would get in ...

The Hangman Thief

Back to images with limericks:

Mother, my note shall be brief:
I've been discovered a thief.
I'll drop from the deck,
and hang by the neck,
'til at last I have found some relief.

"A Poem" by Joshua D. Boeringa

When darkness falls in Middleville,
the townspeople agree,
it's best to shut and lock the doors,
and do it quietly.

Best not to call attention;
best to be like a mouse.
Best that the place looks empty when
viewed from outside the house.

Best stem your curiosity;
best not to peek outside.
Best get to bed and dream away
the black and silent night.

For if it catches wind of you,
you'll smell of bone and meat.
For dullest be its wits, they say,
but sharpest be its teeth.

"Squid Kid" (*working title*) post 'EDIT'

I drew this up today. I like that the girl is wearing a sailor suit and that she has a baby that is a tentacled sea boy in her arms. Thought it was funny and compelling. Where did she get it? Why does she have it? I think a great Limerick should accompany the piece. Once again ... may not appear in the book ... but fun art for me to create none-the-less.

*EDIT* ... the book is now going to have images with limericks and poems throughout it. Here is the first LIMERICK to go with my image. Limerick by Joshua D. Boeringa.

There lived a wee lad with eight tentacles,
who sneaked out to hunt in the crepuscle,
came upon he a childe,
forsaken, reviled,
and he fed in a loud, bloody spectacle.

"The Corset"

This is just a drawing I did for fun today. May never be used anywhere, but will probably be made into prints for sale. This could be a great t-shirt design or even an offbeat tattoo design.
